And as a high-heel lover myself, I know that “just don’t wear heels” is not realistic or helpful advice. Because the right pair of stylish heels can make you feel confident, powerful, and ready to take on the world. In my work life and among my friends, I saw so many women suffering from the pain of uncomfortable designer heels — and a total lack of effective solutions on the market. That’s why, since 2009, I’ve been researching the science and structure of high heels: how they’re designed, why they hurt, and how we can make them better— all while wearing designer heels myself.
